Dorena is a comfortable, family-run B&B with spacious rooms, located just off the B974 between the popular town of Banchory and the village of Strachan (pronounced 'Straun').
Strachan is in a beautiful rural area, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but actually only five minutes' drive from the facilities which the town of Banchory provides.
Banchory has shops, restaurants, pubs, banks, a post office, doctors' and dentists' surgeries, a police station, and a Tourist Information Centre (open April to October). Banchory also has a range of leisure facilities such as attractive parks, 2 golf courses, a driving range, putting, tennis, bowling and children's trampolines.
Dorena is ideally situated for exploring Royal Deeside, the Victorian Heritage Trail, and the Castle and Whisky Trails, as well as the city of Aberdeen which is only a short drive away.
We are close to the popular attraction of the Brig O'Feugh. From there it is possible to view the spectacular sight of salmon leaping up the waterfalls at spawning time.
For sports' enthusiasts, the area offers excellent opportunities for many outdoor activities including fishing, shooting, walking, orienteering, cycling, golf and skiing.
