Directions
Dorena is located in Royal Deeside, just off the B974, a little over 2 miles south-west of Banchory.
From Banchory
At the traffic lights in the centre of the town, turn down the hill and take the B974 towards Strachan. Dorena is half a mile after the Silver Ladies' Caravan Park, on the right-hand side of the road, opposite Heughhead Fisheries. Look for the Tourist Board B&B sign and turn right at it. Dorena is the first house on the right.
From Aberdeen
Take the A93 west to Banchory then follow the directions as above from Banchory.
From Aberdeen Airport
Follow the signs for the city centre via the A96 to North Anderson Drive (A90). Follow the A90 round the outskirts of Aberdeen to the A93 junction; turn right at the traffic lights and remain on the A93 to Banchory (17 miles). Follow the directions as above from Banchory.
From Braemar
Follow the A93 east towards Ballater and Banchory. At Ballater you can continue to follow the A93 to Banchory and then follow the directions as above from Banchory.
Alternatively, take the B976 south of the River Dee at Ballater. Continue on this road as far as the village of Strachan. Drive through the village and continue east towards Banchory (on the B974). Dorena is half a mile after Strachan on the left-hand side of the road, just off the B974. Look for the Tourist Board B&B sign and turn left at it. Dorena is the first house on the right.
From the South
From the A90, turn off onto the B974 and follow the Cairn O'Mount road past Fettercairn to the village of Strachan. Turn right towards Banchory at the T-junction. We are half a mile along this road on the left-hand side of the road. Look for the Tourist Board B&B sign and turn left at it. Dorena is the first house on the right. Note: It is not advisable to take this road in wintry conditions as it often blocks with snow. An alternative route is to take the A957 to Banchory at the town of Stonehaven. Turn left off the A957 at the sign for Strachan (immediately after a small bridge) and follow the road to the village of Strachan. Turn right towards Banchory at the T-junction. We are half a mile along this road on the left-hand side of the road. Look for the Tourist Board B&B sign and turn left at it. Dorena is the first house on the right.
